AWS: ECuNi WELDING ELECTRODES

Product data sheet / Overview:

The ECuNi electrode is designed for welding copper-nickel alloys, particularly those containing approximately 70% copper and 30% nickel, commonly referred to as 70/30 CuNi. This electrode is widely used in marine and desalination applications due to its excellent resistance to seawater corrosion and biofouling. It is also suitable for joining copper-nickel to steel and for overlaying on steel. It provides excellent resistance to oxidation and high-temperature corrosion, making it suitable for use in harsh environments such as chemical processing plants, power generation facilities, and aerospace applications.

Applications

  • Marine Industry: Construction and repair of ships, offshore structures, and seawater desalination plants.
  • Desalination Plants: Components exposed to saline environments, such as evaporators and heat exchangers.
  • Heat Exchangers and Condensers: Especially in power plants and chemical processing plants.
  • Piping Systems: For the transportation of seawater and other corrosive fluids.

Storage and Handling

  • Storage: Store in a dry, cool place to prevent moisture absorption. Ensure electrodes are kept in their original packaging until use.
  • Handling: Handle with care to avoid damage to the electrode coating. Avoid exposure to water and oil.

Safety Precautions

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Use appropriate PPE including welding helmets, gloves, aprons, and safety glasses.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation or use fume extraction systems to avoid inhaling welding fumes.
