AWS: ENiCrFe-3 WELDING ELECTRODES
Product data sheet / Overview: (INCONEL 182 /ALLOYS 182 / INCONEL alloys 600 and 601)
ENiCrFe-3 is a nickel-chromium-iron electrode used for welding a variety of nickel-chromium-iron alloys to themselves, dissimilar welding between these alloys and steels or stainless steels, and surfacing applications. It offers good weldability, machinable weld deposits, and excellent performance at cryogenic to moderate temperatures (around 900°F).
Specifications
- American Welding Society (AWS) Classification: ENiCrFe-3
- ISO: E Ni 6182 (NiCr15Fe6Mn)
- Conforms to standards:AWS A5.11, ASME SFA 5.11 (typical)
Chemical Composition (%)
Element | Typical % |
---|---|
Nickel (Ni) | 65 |
Chromium (Cr) | 15 |
Iron (Fe) | 8 |
Manganese (Mn) | 7.5 |
Columbium + Tantalum (Nb + Ta) | 2 |
Note: The specific chemical composition can vary slightly between manufacturers.
Mechanical Properties
- Yield Strength:: Not always specified, refer to manufacturer's data sheet for specific values.
- Tensile Strength: Not always specified, refer to manufacturer's data sheet for specific values.
- Elongation: Not always specified, refer to manufacturer's data sheet for specific values.

Applications
-
Welding nickel-chromium-iron alloys to themselves.
-
Dissimilar welding between nickel-chromium-iron alloys and steels or stainless steels.
-
Cladding steel with nickel-chromium-iron weld metal (when high manganese content is not detrimental).
-
Surfacing applications.
-
Applications requiring good performance at cryogenic to moderate temperatures (around 900°F).
-
Examples: Desalination plants, petrochemical facilities, power generation plants, furnace equipment, and piping.
Storage and Handling
- Store in a dry place away from moisture and contaminants.
- Maintain recommended storage temperature as specified by the manufacturer.
- Follow proper handling procedures to avoid damage to the electrode coating.
Safety Precautions
- Welding fumes and gases can be hazardous. Use proper ventilation and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding helmet, respirator, gloves, and flame-retardant clothing.
- Electrodes can be sharp. Handle with care to avoid cuts.
- Follow all safety guidelines established by AWS and OSHA.
